The "Orbital" that you race around is created by distorting a large circle. The distorted points are then joined by cubic beziers and a surface is mapped over them. I wanted to have directional gravity and race car physics, but couldn't get it working in time, so in order to get something playable your "car" just tracks a bezier. It does make controlling the car a bit unpredictable, as it seems to turn on its own as it follows the surface.
W / Up : Zoom in
S / Down : Zoom out
A / Left : Rotate anti-clockwise
D / Right : Rotate clockwise
